Coming up next is 2021's "Godzilla Vs. Kong", a film that puts two legendary Titans against each other in an epic battle for dominance. Though a new threat may disrupt their showdown.
The film's cast includes Alexander Skarsgaard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza Gonzalez, Julian Denison, Kyle Chandler, Demian Bichir, Kaylee Hottle, and Ronny Chieng.
On Skull Island, Kong is fast outgrowing his containment area. His one solace is a deaf girl named Jia, with whom he has a special connection.
Kong is continually frustrated by his habitat, and looks for ways to test the boundaries.
At Apex Cybernetics in Pensacola, Florida, whistleblower Bernie Hayes has discovered something unusual.
As he's doing some research, Bernie is interrupted by an attack from Godzilla, who has converged on the Apex center.
Seeking answers in spite of the attack, Bernie comes across the very thing he discovered earlier.
Madison Russell and her friend Josh also do some investigating into why Godzilla is attacking. They ultimately team up with Bernie to find answers.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nathan Lind is approached by the head of Apex, who has some intriguing information about a pathway to Hollow Earth, where, according to belief, the source of the Titans' power lies. They just need a Titan to show them the way.
Nathan visits his friend Dr. Ilene Andrews, who is in charge of Kong. She agrees to help him, knowing that Kong is unhappy in his containment area.
A large seafaring convoy sets out to take Kong to the Hollow Earth entry in Antarctica.
Kong gets very agitated during the voyage. His connection with the deaf girl, Jia, helps him to calm down and relax.
Everyone is astounded when it's realized that Kong and Jia can communicate using sign language.
Godzilla senses Kong on the water and arrives for a fight. The two Titans duke it out. Eventually, Godzilla becomes the victor, and other arrangements must be made to transport Kong to Antarctica.
Elsewhere, Madison, Josh, and Bernie go looking for answers at Apex. When they hear someone coming, they hide. Their hiding place turns out to be a transport for Skull Crawlers that's headed for Hong Kong. The whiz along deep underground at speeds over 600mph.
Because of his sea battle with Godzilla, Kong must be airlifted to Antarctica. He is very reluctant to enter the Hollow Earth entry point.
But once he does go inside, the rest of the group boards their special HEAV vehicles and follows him to Hollow Earth.
Hollow Earth turns out to be a wonderous and dangerous place. Creatures the group has never seen before lurk around every corner. However, Kong seems to be on a mission to get someplace, and they follow him closely.
Having arrived in Hong Kong, Madison, Josh, and Bernie discover that Apex has been working on a Mecha-Godzilla, which attracts the attention of Godzilla whenever it is in action.
Mecha-Godzilla seems to be run by virtual reality. A head from Ghidorah provides a super-computer that links the pilot to the robot.
In Hollow Earth, Kong arrives at his destination, and the group that accompanies him realizes that he is home. Kong picks up some large axe and sits on a throne.
Having sensed the presence of Mecha-Godzilla, the real Godzilla arrives in Hong Kong ready for a fight.
At the same time, Kong finds the source of the Titans' power. He lays his axe down and it appears to draw radiation from the planet's core, effectively charging it.
Godzilla senses this and responds, blasting a hole through the Earth from Hong Kong to Hollow Earth.
The Apex team in Hollow Earth takes a sample of the energy and uploads it to the surface for analysis.
Kong arrives in Hong Kong through the whole blasted by Godzilla, and the two of them fight in an epic battle.
Mecha-Godzilla breaks free from the virtual reality system controlling it and starts to think for itself. This is all possible because of the energy analysis done from the sample that came from Hollow Earth.
Kong and Godzilla have to put their ancient rivalry aside in order to defeat a common enemy. By the time the battle is won, the two Titans go their separate ways. Godzilla stays on Earth, and Kong is allowed to return to Hollow Earth.

And that's it for Godzilla Vs. Kong. This was the first film since 1963 to feature both Godzilla and Kong. That film was titled King Kong Vs. Godzilla. This fourth installment in the MonsterVerse franchise netted $122 million during its opening weekend, becoming the biggest opening of a film released during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is also the shortest film in the MonsterVerse.
