Apologies for no post yesterday. Technical difficulties beyond our control put a brief halt to our proceedings. Today, we offer 2010's "Why Did I Get Married Too?", the sequel to 2007's "Why Did I Get Married?", which sees four couples take stock of their marriages and lives while on vacation.
The film's cast includes Tyler Perry, Sharon Leal, Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, Jill Scott, Lamman Rucker, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Richard T. Jones, Louis Gossett Jr., Cicely Tyson, and Dwayne Johnson.
Anyone up for an island getaway? The Bahamas is the scene for our film today. Four couples arrive for their annual "Why Did I Get Married" conference. However, this idyllic setting may not bring the peace and relaxation they are all seeking.
Our first couple is Sheila and Troy. Having gotten married in the last film, they have since become the parents of a new baby. However, Troy has lost his job, and the stress of looking for work and having to chip in for this luxury vacation has put a strain on their marriage.
Next to arrive is Dr. Patricia Agnew and her husband Gavin. Still struggling to come to terms with the loss of their son, the two of them can't seem to find a way to bridge the gap that's come between them. Sadly, Patricia and Gavin announce their intention to divorce.
Terry and Diane arrive next. While they might seem outwardly happy, there are strong undercurrents of unhappiness and infidelity that are troubling their marriage.
Then there is Angela and Marcus, who always seem to be fighting. Angela struggles with trust issues. She also wants the password for Marcus's cellphone, which he refuses to give up.
While all of this is going on, Sheila's ex-husband Mike arrives unexpectedly and announces to Sheila that he has cancer and needs someone to take care of him while he receives treatment.
And during their time in the Bahamas, an older couple teaches the group about the true meaning of "forever" and what it means to be in it for the long haul.
The way that the older couple enters the lives of the couples is quite humorous. They were on the beach scattering the ashes of a dear friend. Those ashes were caught by the wind and landed on Angela, who ran screaming into the water to wash herself while all of her friends laughed on the beach.
Things work out for some and things end for others. Not everyone will survive, and there are some surprises for one or two of our couples. However, they all know that they can rely on each other to get them through life with love, laughter, and friendship.

And that's it for Why Did I Get Married Too?. In one scene of the film, Janet Jackson goes on a rampage, takes a golf club, and smashes everything in her path. She broke three titanium golf clubs while filming. It was during the making of this film that Janet Jackson learned of the death of her brother Michael. After a brief hiatus, filming was back on schedule, and Jackson channeled her grief and sadness into her acting, giving a powerhouse performance.
