Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End (2007)

Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End - 2007
Our next film is rounds out the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.  2007's "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End" sees our favorite characters as they do battle against the East India Trading Company.  Loyalties are tested, allegiances are shifted, and the entire fate of the pirate world hangs in the balance.

The film's cast includes Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Chow Yun-fat, Bill Nighy, Stellan Skarsgaard, Tom Hollander, Jack Davenport, Naomie Harris, Kevin McNally, Keith Richards, Jonathan Pryce, Lee Arenberg, Mackenzie Crook, Martin Klebba, and Takayo Fischer.

Captain Barbossa, Elizabeth, and Will, along with the rest of the Black Pearl crew are in Singapore.  There, they obtain a ship, crew, and map from Captain Sao Feng.  They are seeking the location of Davy Jones' Locker, where Jack Sparrow is being held following his death by the Kraken.

The seas are no longer safe for pirates.  Lord Cutler Beckett, in control of Davy Jones and his Flying Dutchman, patrol the waters and obliterate everything that stands in their way.

They journey to the ends of the earth.  The freezing climate is unlike anything any of them have experienced before.  Barbossa tells the crew, "It’s not gettin’ to the land of the dead that’s the problem.  It’s gettin’ back."

After sailing through a period of calm, the ship ends up going over a treacherous waterfall.  "You've doomed us all," Elizabeth tells Barbossa.  He replies with "Now don't be so unkind.  You may not survive to pass this way again, and these be the last friendly words you'll hear."  He laughs maniacally as the ship goes over the falls.

Trapped within Davy Jones' Locker, Jack Sparrow seems to be losing his mind.

When his friends wash up on the shore, Jack thinks for certain he's insane.  After they manage to convince him that they are real, Jack says, "Why should I sail with any of you?  Four of you have tried to kill me in the past...one of you succeeded."  When they tell him of Beckett's command of the sea as well as the convening of the pirate Brethren Court, Jack says, "I leave you people alone for just a minute and look what happens, everything's gone to pot!"

They decipher clues in the map to return to the world of the living.  These clues are very unconventional, to say the least.

Once back in the present, everyone's loyalties shift as they jockey for control.

During an excursion on land to resupply, Jack comes face to face with the Kraken.  It's been ordered killed by Cutler Beckett.

They are ambushed by Sao Feng, and Jack is turned over to the one person he does not wish to see: Lord Cutler Beckett.

Beckett and Jack wheel and deal in order to get the best possible outcome for themselves.  Beckett wants the location of Shipwreck Cove (where the Brethren Court are to convene).  Jack won't give it up.

Sao Feng takes Elizabeth captive.  He believes her to be the goddess Calypso bound in human form.  She uses that supposition to find out what he really wants.  During the course of their conversation, the ship is attacked and Sao Feng is mortally wounded.  Before he dies, he makes Elizabeth captain and a pirate lord.

Elizabeth is surprised to see that one of her captors is Admiral Norrington, her former fiance.  When he lets her and the crew go (which costs him his life), he tells her, "Our fates have been entwined, Elizabeth, but never joined."

We learn that Tia Dalma is in fact the goddess Calypso bound in human form.  Barbossa intends to release her with the help of the Brethren Court.

Shipwreck Cove is the secret location of the Brethren Court.  "There's never been a gatherin' like this in our lifetime," says Barbossa.  "And I owe them all money," sighs Jack.

The pirate lords are assembled.  Jack and Barbossa are shocked to find that Elizabeth is now a pirate lord.  She tells them that Beckett is on his way with an army to destroy them and that they should fight.  Everyone seems to be against this idea.

Everyone, that is, except Jack.  "Let us not, dear friends, forget our dear friends the cuttlefish...flipping, glorious little sausages," he begins a rambling speech.  He believes the pirates should declare war.

Jack's father, Captain Teague, reads from the Pirate Code (with the help of the prison dog escaped from the cannibal island).  The pirate lords must vote on a Pirate King to make a formal declaration of war.

Everyone is shocked when Elizabeth is voted the Pirate King.  She tells them to prepare every vessel that floats, for the next day they will be at war.

The two warring factions determine the terms of the war before its start.  An exchange is made.  Jack goes with Beckett in exchange for Will going with Elizabeth.

Barbossa does what he intended and releases Calypso (it's hilarious to hear him do so in a voice he thinks is akin to a lover's).  However, she neglects to aid their cause, leaving them to fight on their own.

Elizabeth gives a rousing speech to the assembled pirate army.  They hoist their colors and rally behind their pirate king.

The war begins, and the fighting is long and hard.  Elizabeth and Will even get married during a skirmish.  (It's hilarious to watch Barbossa try to officiate and fight at the same time: "Dearly beloved, we be gathered here today…To nail your gizzards to the mast, you poxy cur!")

Unfortunately, Will is severely injured during the fighting.  The only way to save him is for him to stab the heart of Davy Jones and take his place as captain of the Flying Dutchman.  With Jack's help, Will does just that.  Elizabeth and Jack leave the ship as it sinks below the water.

The fortunes of the pirates turn when the Flying Dutchman, now under Will's command, turns against the East India Trading Company.  Cutler Beckett is killed in a joint attack by the Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman.

Both ships sail off together after their victory.  Their crews are overjoyed at the outcome.

After spending their wedding night on land, Will must rejoin the Flying Dutchman.  He is forbidden to step on land again for ten years.  He gives the chest containing his heart to Elizabeth, and he asks her to keep it safe.  He vanishes along with his ship into the sunset.

Meanwhile, Jack has outsmarted Barbossa and is now on the road to finding a new path to immortality: the legendary Fountain of Youth.
