Frozen (2013)

Frozen - 2013

Coming up next we have that 2013's Disney classic "Frozen", a film about two sisters who have been isolated from each other because of some magic one sister possesses.  When their parents die, the two sisters must come together to protect their kingdom from a foreign prince and find out how to keep everything from freezing over.

The film's voice cast includes Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, Alan Tudyk, Ciaran Hinds, Edie McClurg, Robert Pine, Livvy Stubenrauch, and Eva Bella.

Right away we are introduced to the joys of winter.  "Split the ice apart, and break the frozen heart" comes the lyrics of the opening song.

Elsa and Anna are the daughters of the King and Queen of Arendelle.  The two girls love each other and delight in playing with one another.  Elsa, the eldest, has magical powers that can turn an ordinary playtime into a wintry snow funfest.

Sadly, Elsa's powers accidentally hurt Anna, and the two girls are separated for their safety.  The kingdoms borders are closed and the gates to the castle are shut to try and keep Elsa's magical secret.  The girls miss each other terrible, which causes Anna to ask "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?".

One day, the King and Queen of Arendelle set off on an ocean voyage.  Tragically, their ship is sunk in rough seas.  Elsa is left to take the reigns of the kingdom as its queen, but must do so from behind castle walls.  Anna is left to be the public face of the royal family.

Three years later, Elsa's coronation day arrives.  Arendelle throws open its gates to welcome visitors from near and far.

Nobody is more excited for the gates to be opened than Anna.  "For The First Time In Forever" she gets to relax and enjoy herself with a crowd of people at the palace.  Who knew they owned eight thousand salad plates?

Before the day's festivities begin, Anna meets Prince Hans of The Southern Isles.  He's completely charming, and he and Anna hit it off in a big way.

Elsa's coronation goes off without a hitch, though she is very nervous that her magical powers will become visible to everyone gathered.

At the banquet after the coronation, Anna and Hans bond over their love of sandwiches and other things.  They find out "Love Is An Open Door" and Hans proposes to Anna, which she instantly accepts.

When Anna tells Elsa about the proposal, Elsa has misgivings.  The stress of the day coupled with Anna's news causes Elsa to lose control and her powers manifest themselves violently.

Scared and humiliated, Elsa sets off an eternal winter and runs into the forest.

As Elsa wanders through the forest, she decides to embrace who she is and "Let It Go".  She builds herself an enormous ice palace with a abominable snowman named Marshmallow to guard it.

Anna goes after Elsa with the help of quirky iceman Kristoff and his reindeer pal Sven.

Along the way, Anna and Kristoff meet Olaf, a snowman brought to life by Elsa's magic.  Olaf loves warm hugs and is constantly wondering what it will be like "In Summer".

Anna eventually finds Elsa and tries to get her to return to Arendelle.  Elsa refuses, and her powers get the better of her again.  She inadvertently freezes Anna's heart, which seriously injures her.

Kristoff takes Anna to the trolls he grew up with.  The trolls see something that Anna and Kristoff don't, and try and get them together.  They advertise Kristoff as "A Bit Of A Fixer-Upper".  Grand Pabbie, the head troll, tells Anna that the only way to fix her heart is by an act of true love.

Back in Arendelle, it turns out that Prince Hans has taken over and he has no intention of returning power to either Elsa or Anna.  He wants the throne for himself.  He captures Elsa and throws Anna in a room to die.  Both break out.

Prince Hans chases the sisters with every intention of killing Elsa.  Anna runs between them and freezes completely just as Hans is ready to bring his sword down.

This bit of heroism is the act of true love that Anna required.  The frozen heart is reversed and she and Elsa hug.  Hans is carted off to prison and returned to the Southern Isles in shame.

Elsa gains control of her powers and lifts the wintry curse from Arendelle.  Anna and Kristoff DO get together, albeit a bit awkwardly at first.

Elsa creates an ice rink at the palace for Arendelle's citizens.  When Anna tells Elsa that she loves the opens gates, Elsa tells her sister that they are never closing them again.
